Case Study: Veneers and Composite Bonding to Fix Gaps

Veronica came to our office to see if we could help close the gaps that were still left between her teeth after the treatment by a reputable orthodontist did not fix them completely. Her teeth and gums were healthy, but because of the arched shape of her gums, it made any more progress with braces impossible.

During her consultation with us, Veronica also expressed a desire for a younger and brighter smile. Her options came down to two choices: she could whiten and brighten her teeth using whitening treatments, and use composite bonding to “fill out” her teeth similar to what would be done to fill a cavity, or she could explore the second option of porcelain veneers.

After discussing the pros and cons of each of the options, Veronica settled on a hybrid of the two to make the treatment fit more comfortably within her budget. It was a very good compromise which rendered beautiful, lasting results. Her wide smile showed off more of her top teeth than her bottom teeth, so we used ten veneers on the top row of her teeth. For the less visible bottom row of teeth, the whitening and composite bonding solution was used to build up the sides of each tooth to close the gaps, while at the same time, helping to even them out a bit more.

After more than five years passed, Veronica, as well as her daughter, both continue to be seen at our office, and we’re thrilled to be able to say that the work that we did for her back then still looks as if it was done recently.
